    Product Description

    The Employment Law Sourcebook & Citator combines two outstanding practice resources: a sourcebook collecting the latest in practice area reference materials—statutes, regulations, and administrative guidelines—and a citator abstracting and analyzing recent decisions of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD). This comprehensive and portable resource is an essential companion for employment lawyers.

      Dear Subscriber:

      Thank you for updating your reference library with the 2025 edition of the Massachusetts Employment Law Sourcebook & Citator. This updated product brings the latest in employment law and procedure within your immediate reach, for fast answers to the questions that arise most frequently in your practice.

      Highlights from this year's sourcebook updates include

      • amendments to G.L. c. 6, ยง 172M, regarding the use of criminal offender record information (CORI) to evaluate prospective employees who may have direct contact with firearms;
      • revised provisions on earned sick time and new provisions requiring salary range transparency and the submission of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) reports to the state;
      • a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court holding that a job transferee can establish a Title VII violation without showing "significant" or "substantial" harm;
      • amendments to the Massachusetts Family and Medical Leave Act;
      • MCAD guidelines and an EEOC enforcement guidance on harassment in the workplace;
      • an advisory from the Office of the Attorney General on the application of Massachusetts law to artificial intelligence; and
      • numerous additions and amendments to federal employment statutes and regulations, including the addition of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and associated regulations promulgated by the EEOC.

      New materials for the MCAD citator include thirteen abstracts of MCAD decisions from 2023 and 2024, along with expert commentary and overviews of the year's developments from both employee- and management-side perspectives. Among the topics addressed in these decisions are race, gender, age, disability, and pregnancy discrimination; reasonable accommodation; sexual harassment; and retaliation. Hundreds of annotated abstracts from prior years (2000—2023) are available for download.

      Thank you for your ongoing support as we at MCLE continue our efforts to bring you the latest solutions to the issues you face in your practice.

      Very truly yours,

      John M. Lawlor, MCLE Publications Attorney
