This book presents a varied collection of personal narratives and historical accounts by Massachusetts lawyers of different religions, genders, races, and sexual orientations. Some pieces present a history of exclusion and bias leading to increased inclusion and acceptance. Others present personal stories. Still others reflect on how the author's background influences their practice today. Whether the authors' reflections are grounded in the past or the present, MCLE intends that this collection will provide an opportunity for the reader to reflect on the issue of diversity in the Massachusetts legal profession and that it raises even more questions for future discussion and further reflection.
This book is part of MCLE's Legal Heritage Series—a unique collection of books that celebrate Massachusetts' rich legal history and the people, institutions, and stories that are a part of it. All proceeds from the sales of Legal Heritage Series books support MCLE's Scholarship Endowment.
